Yummy rolls

I've already had a couple of people call me for my roll recipe so I thought I would just share it with whom ever wants it. It not a family secret, someone asked me if it was, although I did get it from my Aunt Dianne so I call them Diane's rolls.
2 Tlb. yeast dissolved in 1/2 cup warm water. (set aside)
In large mixing bowl mix well:
3 eggs
1 cup mashed potatoes
2 cups scalded milk.
To this mix in:
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter
2 tsp salt
4 cups flour
Add yeast water and mix well.
Now add about 3 more cups of flour (until it's not too sticky)
Let rise until double. Roll out cut into squares with a pizza cutter. Brush with butter and fold over. Brush top with butter. Let rise again for about 45 minutes. Bake @ 350 until golden brown.

Picture adventure

We tried to take family pictures the other day. We wanted to do it outside but by the time we all got together it was getting dark. We just decided to do in the living room and it was quite comical. If anyone were looking in our window they would have been laughing hysterically. I don't know about anyone else but there is not one boy in my family who likes to have their picture taken. And what is it with little kids and the forced smile. It just makes me laugh to see their little faces. Well this was the best we got from the night, and I don't think I can get anyone to do it again any too soon.

It's all about Vampire love...

Kimmy and her friends went to the midnight showing of Twilight last night. They actually made it an all day event. As they would pass each other in the halls they would whisper how many hours left until show time, and giggle with anticipation. After school they got together to make T-shirts. Each the same yet with a little of their own personality on the back. They went out for ice cream, of course had a photo shoot, and just talked and read excerts from the book and in all had a great time. When she came home she couldn't wait to tell me all about it, she loved it. I think actually she loved the time before with her friends just as much. For the rest of the girls in the family, we are going on Saturday morning. We just don't have quite the energy she does.

There is nothing better than sisters

My sisters are a great comfort in my life
They are helpful and understanding without much strife

They know exactly where I have come from, because they came from there too
And they are supportive and helpful, because that’s what sisters do

We listen to each other and give an opinion when we feel there’s a need
And we are always there when someones confidence we need to feed

Most of the time we are just there to be a friend
And to the love of a sister there is no end

Now a brother is nice to have around
They keep you laughing, and their advice is sound

But when I need comfort or someone to tell how I feel
There is nothing like the shoulder of a sister to fit the bill

  • A fun lunch group
  • Books
  • The scriptures
  • Music
  • That I didn't live in Old Testament times
  • Great neighbors(one who has been my very friend for a very long time)
  • Good food
  • CHOCOLATE!!!
  • Weekends
  • The end of the trimester

Running

I started running again and it is kicking my trash. I have to admit that I am loving it and I can't believe how fast I could get back to running 3 miles again. Our bodies are amazing things. Even though I have been neglecting it since I've been working, and put on more than a little weight, It responded quite well to getting back into the game. I love running through our neighborhoods. I live in such a beautiful area. Even though I'm a little sore and tired I am very glad to be back!

I went to the conference center with the youth of our ward last night. It was for a recording for a DVD to be used on or around New Years Eve. It was fun and uplifting and a great way for the church to introduce the Yong Men and Young Women's theme for next year. I was so impressed by how much our church loves its youth, and wants to do everything they can to protect them from the ways of the world, and yet let them know that life can still be fun. My favorite part was when Elder Holland spoke to them. Here are a few thoughts I had while he was speaking.
Be the example you need to be.
Much tragedy and heart ache can be avoided if we will just listen to the spirit.
Youth today must gain their own testimony at an earlier age than I did.
The spirit teaches all things, I must be responsive to the spirit.
I mattered more to Christ than death, and so did all of the wonderful youth that were there and whom will see this DVD. How can I teach them that.
The theme for next year is: 1Timothy 4:12, "be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity."
I denfinatly need to step it up so I can be that example. I can't expect my kids to if I don't.
